Update - 9/11/9
I consider this blog to be a bastion of good taste. Sometimes, the music I put up here isn’t always straight to the line metal, hardcore or indie. Sometimes, you have to open your ears to the sacharrine sweet world of pop music. Ellie Goulding… Remember the first time you fell in love? When everything seemed so fresh, so vibrant and you felt as if you could take on the world? Those...

OH HEY.
Due to numerous schoolboy errors, like forgetting my password and other embarrassing things I hadn’t been able to post for a while. Now I can, I thought I’d do everyone a favour and post up some awesome music links to ease the pain of you not hearing anything from the HG camp in a long while.

Perfection.
No no, we haven't departed this mortal coil.
Hallowed Grey is still as busy as ever. We have been neglecting the online side of things recently in favour of getting the printed version of HG Issue 4 into production. So far I’ve been sent yet more stellar work by the ever intelligent Matthew Jordan and have another friend writing an article on the modern music video, which believe me is sure to be as satirical as they come.

Reflection In The Shadow Of The Beast.
This post is an absolute pleasure for me to share with the world. The Banner got me into the darker, more evil side of hardcore.
Download from here.
This is nothing like their previous material. 32 minutes and 33 seconds of epicly crafted, gothic tinged post metal, complete with obligatory G!YBE styled use of zombie/horror samples at the start of the record. This record is a must download....

Attack Vipers
There was an interview with Attack Vipers here, but seeing as its going into the fourth issue, you can read it there instead! Peace.
Mega update.
So as this blog has been a little quiet over the past few weeks, I figured it was time for a mammoth update. The Arah Kiri tape is now up, as promised. They’re a rad youth crew esque band from the depths of Malaysia. Short, fast, loud. Expect nothing less.
Arah Kiri download is here.
Other than that, here is an assortment of demos you may not have had the chance to get hold of otherwise....

Lost & Found - W/C 22nd June 09
Wavves is a one man ensemble consisting of Nathan Williams and is one of my favourite bands at the moment. They’re lo-fi like their contemparies No Age and do a similar sort of blissed out garage punk with shoegazey overtones and no pretensions. This is the perfect soundtrack for skateboarding and riding your bike along the promenade in the cool summer evenings. Perfect.

Lost and Found - w/c 15th June 2009
Lost & Found is a new little feature I’ve decided to start running to try and showcase some rad bands I’ve found over the past week and to bring out some hidden gems that people may have forgotten about. Expect myspaces, youtube videos, unreleased mixes, demos and lots of other awesome stuff.
Wave Machines are a rad little electro pop band from Liverpool. Vocally it reminds me...

Ryan O'Connor - Outbreak
I went to see Outbreak for my 20th birthday in Folkestone, and was surprised to say the least. They manage to take the energy of the record, and put a whole new dimension on it live. I spoke to Ryan afterwards, and asked him if hed be so kind to do an email interview. Here’s the outcome.

Lonewolves.
Introduce yourselves and let us know what each of you do for the band if you would lads?
Yo, I’m Aaron and I play guitar. Ams handle the vocals, Tom plays the drums, and Small plays bass.
Lonewolves are relative newcomers to the scene, yet seem to have an already rabid following if you’ll excuse the pun. Do you think that playing this all dayer will open up some kids to the heavier,...

blogsecret:
Do you really have A.D.H.D., or do you just want an excuse for your extreme laziness? I’m so sick of hearing how it’s your “A.D.D.’s fault” that you’re forgetful and unorganized, not yours. If it was really bothering you that much, you’d get help for it. But if it’s “fixed”, you’d be “better” and would lose the excuse, so that’s not an option. And anyways, who wants to be evaluated,...
London Handstyles
theokindynis:
Needless to say, I am beyond excited about this book, due for release in late July…
London handstyles is a full colour book with over 500 images documenting some of London’s finest tags from the 80’s through to the present day. Also featured in the book are words, quotes and legendary tales from London’s most notorious and prolific writers including Sub, Sham, Diet,...
Souther Salazar →
Souther Salazar was born in 1978 in Hayward, CA. As a teenager in the early 1990’s, Salazar made photocopied cut-and-paste minicomics and ‘zines in his bedroom in rural Oakdale. After graduating from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Salazar moved to Los Angeles where he currently lives and works. His artwork reinterprets the world, making it into a mythical place full of carnivals, lost...

Gold Kids.
Hey Andre, can you tell the kids who were lucky enough to receive one of these zines today what inspires your lyrics and vocals on a day to day basis? Well, it might sound very self-centred but lyrics are mostly personal and deal with my private life! I can’t really write anything positive at all since I see hardcore and aggressive music as a way to shout out your worst feelings. I write...
HEX
Hex are another one of those bands doing the whole dirty as fuck, crusty hardcore thing. They do it well too. A good mix of influences from Cursed through to Darkthrone. I’d say UR MOSHIN, but you’ll probably end up tearing out your hair whilst drinking yourself to death on a bottle of cheap whiskey and painkillers instead. Peterborough represent.

Do you like Cursed?
If you like the dirty, overly overdriven guitar tones of Cursed and Old Man Gloom then this new band based in the Midlands of the UK is definitely one to check out. This is their self titled EP and is an indicator of things to come. Please check this out and go and see them live.

Rip It Up are a bunch of Newcastle lads playing some properly rad skate punk. Think late 80’s and early 90’s.

Lovers of cider, skateboarding and pure balls to the wall thrash. You don’t need to listen to this band to know they’re more than likely going to tear your face off and then piss on your nans sofa covers before crawling home in a drunken stupor.

Dead Swans Mega Post - Interview and Demo
What’s up? Can you tell us a little bit about yourself such as bands you’ve been in and what you do in your spare time?

I’m not turning this into a show review, I have no experience in writing one and I’m not familiar enough with any of the bands to properly comment on them. Additionally, I missed the two bands I was the most stoked to see - All Hallows, who played their first show, and Set Fires Then Run (who don’t actually appear on this version of the flier, having replaced Lost Sight), a new...
Maine Mike - Rotting Out
Hey Mike, how’s things going over your side of the pond? You working at the minute or are you still chilling big time at Chateaux Harder?
—-Hello! Things are going great in my little world, as for the whole US…I think we are hurting big time. Right now I am at work (yes! getting paid to screw around.). I really enjoy my job, although most people think I hate it. I would never do...
Travis Reilly - This Is Hell

Lets get the obvious out of the way. State your name and place within TIH and what other bands you’ve played for in the past, if any? Travis Reilly…. I sing for This Is Hell and before this band I sang for The Heist/Scraps And Heart Attacks and my first band was called Falling Behind. When you’re not touring your arses off with some rad bands from...
Sunn0))) - Monoliths & Dimensions
SUNN O))) is proud to present their 7th studio album, after 10 years of existence, entitled Monoliths & Dimensions. The album showcases the core guitar duo - Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson - incorporating influences from a plethora of guest musicians, bringing the SUNN O))) sound to epic new levels. The band also collaborated with composer Eyvind Kang (notable for his work with John...
Joe Hardcore(Shattered Realm/Philly Legend)

Hey again man, could you just introduce yourself for the readers who might be picking this up at their first show/who may not have heard of you? I am Joe Hardcore. I’ve been going to shows for a lil bit and I have toured in and with bands, booked shows locally in Philadelphia for over 12 years. I’ve booked US tours and helped bands with liner notes and t-shirt...
High horse knock down.
These are lyrics/prose/poetry dedicated to someone who I thought I knew. Someone I once classed as a close friend. It’s a shame that over time people change and when they become involved in certain scenes/organisations and things like that, they feel the need to start acting as if their shit doesn’t stink. Well, everyones does. Everyone is a hypocrite, a liar and a cheat to not only...
